In Philosopher John Locke’s 1690 “Essay Concerning Human Understanding”, he championed the idea of “Tabula Rasa”- that the mind is a primary blank or empty state before receiving outside influence.

I know that by the time you are reading this Christmas will have passed. But some Christians do not stop celebrating Christmas until January 6, 2026, so I still have time to squeeze in a few more thoughts about Jesus’ incarnation!

14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”

Perhaps it’s customary during your family’s Thanksgiving meal to ask each person to share one thing for which they are thankful.

Should Christians fast?

Well, as we consider the New Testament, we see Jesus underscoring the importance of fasting (Matthew 6:16-18, Mark 9:29). And we also see several examples where believers fasted,

Have you been praying about something for a long time, and yet God has not answered you?

Sometimes when we talk about people who have a positive and pleasant disposition, we say, “They have a glow about them.” Well, when it comes to Moses, we can say that he certainly had a glow about him, but it wasn’t because of his disposition.

The Bible is filled with verses that tell us to trust in the Lord. One of my favorites is Jeremiah17:7-8 (ESV):
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord.
