Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a Growth Group?
A growth group is a team of people who gather together to love and support one another while discussing how we can apply God’s word to our daily lives.

  • What is the required commitment?
All members of the group will be asked to sign a covenant that affirms their commitment to the group. Members promise to attend the meetings each week and come to group prepared.

  • What does it cost?
There is no fee to attend growth groups. However, participating in a group will require a commitment of your time and attention. You may also be asked to periodically bring refreshments to share with your group members.

  • Is there homework?
Discussions at each meeting will center around the Sunday sermon. If you missed the sermon, please listen to it beforehand and think about the questions provided at the end of each. The sermons, sermon notes and questions for discussion can all be found on the church website.

  • How long do they last?
Each session runs for 9-10 weeks.  There are three sessions each year (fall, winter and spring). Weekly meetings last approximately two hours.

  • How do I sign up?
All sign-ups will be done via the Blue Church website. On the growth group page, you will see a list of all available growth groups. Follow the link on your growth group choice to register. Click on contact leader to join the group. If you need assistance with sign-ups, please email BluChu@aol.com.

  • How will I know where to meet? There’s no address listed on the webpage.
Once your registration information is received, your growth group leader will reach out to you with their address and contact information.

  • Can I join a group mid-session?
Growth groups work best when people grow together as a group from the start. It takes time to develop friendships and trust within the group. For this reason, we ask that you wait to join until the start of the next growth group session if you missed the sign up window for the current session. Growth groups sessions are available in fall, winter and spring.

  • Is childcare available?
The leaders of the Blue Church do not want the cost of childcare to be a burden or prevent your participation in growth groups. The church will reimburse babysitting expenses related to growth group attendance.  Vouchers will be available in the church office to submit your babysitting expenses. Additionally, one of our groups will have a sitter available at the meeting location to watch the kids while you attend group.

  • What if I can’t make it to my growth group this week?

Growth group members are expected to be fully committed to their group, which means that all reasonable efforts should be made to be there. We do of course understand that illness, work conflicts, vacations and prior commitments happen. If you cannot make it to growth group, you need to contact your group leader to let them know as soon as possible. Share with your leader any prayer requests you may have and if you are able, ask if there is anything your group needs from you. Even if you can’t be at the meeting, it is important to maintain your connection with the group.
