A Christmas prayer

Hi everyone,

Through the centuries some of the most beautiful prayers have been offered
at the time of Christmas . This past week I enjoyed reading many of them and
the sentiments shared by so many different people through the years greatly
blessed me. Below is a compilation of their prayers. I hope you too are

encouraged by their hearts this Christmas.

Lord Jesus,

Teach us how to express the love that burns within our hearts as we think of
your goodness to us – that you came to be our light in the darkness, our
hope in despair, our strength in weakness, our shelter in the storm and yes,
our eternal Savior. Glory be to you on high Lord Jesus, and on earth peace,
goodwill towards men, for unto to us on this day over two thousand years ago
you came to us as a small child  to share in birth and death and to willing
sacrifice your life that we may have forgiveness of sins. Grant to us Lord
that the joy of the angels, the eagerness of the shepherds, the perseverance
of the wise men, the obedience of Joseph and Mary and the peace of the
Christ child this Christmas. Our Lord God, as we celebrate your coming we
ask you to make us humble and loving like Jesus, who did not come to be
served but to serve. We pray, O lord, purify our hearts that they may worthy
to become thy dwelling place. Let us never fail to find room for thee. We
ask God of love that at this Christmas time  you would open the hearts of
many to the good and saving news of Jesus Christ; that those whose lives are
insecure, empty, or aimless , may find in the One born in Bethlehem all that

they need today and much more besides.

Merry Christmas everyone,

Rob
