A Fighting Chance?

They say I have a fighting chance
I don’t know if they are right
All I know is, I have been fighting all my life.

They say I have a fighting chance
That I should just stay in school
But they don’t know what it’s like
And that the streets are very cruel.

They say I have a fighting chance
That I should obey my mom and dad
Do they know that mom is strung out on drugs and a dad I have never had?

They say I have a fighting chance
That I should just find an honest way to get money
But when you have to be the man of the house
They all sound kind of funny.

They say I have a fighting chance when my sentence is up and I get out
But when they send me back to the same streets, I have nothing but my doubts.

They say I have a fighting chance
That using and selling these drugs is not the way
But I can’t plan a future when I may not make today.

They say I had a fighting chance
But now I am in my grave
And those who look upon me say, “That’s the bed he made”.

They say I had a fighting chance
I now know that they’re not right
All I know, is that I fought all my life.

Some people have very difficult lives that end in great sorrow.

Will you pray for them?
Will you help them?
Will you be kind to them?
Will you share the Gospel with them?

For Jesus,

Rob
