Bitterness-breaker

I have a simple message for you today. Pray for Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.
Perhaps you don’t like one or the other. Perhaps both. Perhaps you are angered or frustrated, discouraged or disillusioned by them. Perhaps you spend a lot of your time speaking ill of them. If so….I can relate. I think many people can. But the other morning I spent time praying for each of them…..as people. I know that may seem silly, because they

are people but I found as I prayed forHillary and Donald

that God softened my heart and allowed me to pray for these individuals and that allowed me to be more sensitive to their weaknesses, limitations and struggles and all of the pressures they are under. He allowed my prayers to focus on their hearts, and as I focused on the things I did not like about them, I prayed that God would work in their hearts and bring change. I prayed that God would reveal His truth and will to them and help them to be sensitive to his leading. I didn’t pray with the thought of which political party they belonged to – just who they were…Donald and Hillary. I prayed for their health and strength and that God’s wisdom would be received by them.

And….as I prayed….I found by bitterness and resentments leaving me. The truth is that it didn’t take long for those feelings to come back so I know that it is important for me to keep praying for them. I also know that to do so is really good for me. I am convinced it is what God wants me and us to do. I am convinced it is really important, no matter who gets elected to keep praying for them, and our nation.
