Don’t miss this opportunity!

Israel missed it in the desert.
Moses missed it at the Rock.
Saul missed it at Gilgal.
Elijah missed it in a cave.

Jonah missed it on a trip to Nineveh.
The disciples missed it in Gethsemane.

Of course, I’m talking about a missed opportunity to believe God, a missed opportunity to trust Him, a missed opportunity to exercise faith. Once missed, a given opportunity never, ever returns. You may have many more chances to trust God, but that one, this one, once lost, is gone forever.

Admittedly, most of our opportunities are not as public and as strategic as those named above. We may not be at risk for losing the Promised Land, like Moses and Israel, or losing the throne, like Saul, but our opportunities to trust God are just as real, even though they may not be as dramatic.

We are called upon to forgive the one who offended us. Today.
We are told not to gossip. Today.
We are commanded to love our enemies, and pray for them. Today.
We are invited to rejoice in the Lord. Today.
We are reminded to love our wife/respect our husband. Today.
We are encouraged to believe that God is going to provide for all our needs. Today.

Today, this very minute, you are being called to believe some promise of God. Embrace it! Believe Him! Trust Him. Now.

Don’t let this opportunity pass you by. He loves for us to believe Him, and delights in us when we do.

“Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked,
“You of little faith, why are you talking among yourselves about having no bread?”
Matthew 16:8
