Recently I have again heard people say that they have become somewhat dissuaded about the validity of the Christian faith because they don’t like what they see when they observe the lives of Christians.

World traveler

Wow… I have had some week. I have been doing
a lot  of traveling. During the course of this week I visited Rome, Greece, Egypt, and a small part of Africa, to name a few of the places I’ve been. It was amazing to see all these lands… from the comfort of the wonderfully adorned rooms of the University of Pennsylvania Archeological Museum.

When I was young, I always marveled at how “old” old people were, and now I am fast approaching becoming one of them.

I guess all I can do is pray

I’ve been considering life lately and it has occurred to me that with each passing year I have gained more acceptance of one particular truth; much of life is beyond our control, and what appears to be in our control really isn’t. The truth of the matter is that it seems that for the things that matter the most to us, they are the things we seem to have the least influence over.

Giving birth to Death

I’ve been thinking more about addiction these days. Through the years I have noticed that Christians can sometimes resist the idea of addiction because they are upset by the notion that comes from addictions research and literature that people are born with certain dispositions and therefore are destined to spend their days ravaged by one form of addiction of another.

Is it in our nature to “hear” nature?

As many of you may know, I was blessed to be on vacation in Florida over the past week or so. It was a wonderful time of rest and relaxation. While away we stayed in this beautiful condo provided to us by a friend that was on the third floor of a building.

In a few days I will begin to accumulate things that I would like to take with me on vacation. I have been putting together a list of things that will bring me pleasure during my time of extended leisure. I thank God for these times of renewal when I am blessed to be with my family, see more of His creation and slowdown from the frantic pace of life.
