The Blue Church

There is a lot of talk about unity these days. Many calls are going out about how everyone needs to be respected, validated and cared for. Parade after parade is being hosted with people of all different creeds, sexual orientations, backgrounds, beliefs and ethnicities proclaiming that they are proud of who they are.

There’s the alarm   I have to go to the prison today to deal with suicidal guys.   I don’t want to go.   Holy Spirit work in me, that I would have the strength to face my day.

I love Godzilla movies.   Ever since I was a kid I have enjoyed them.   What? You don’t agree?   What’s not to like about a guy in a rubber suit stomping around a movie set, crushing buildings and battling with other guys in rubber suits portraying monsters?

Recently the state of Alabama put forth legislation that will make abortion illegal. One politician in Alabama who opposes the legislation stated, “Alabama is already viewed as a backwards state, this will only make us look more backwards”.

This week I was dealing with an inmate that was volatile and unpredictable. A situation quickly arose where I had to make a decision about how to approach this inmate. If I made the wrong choice, things could go really bad. In that moment, I prayed and made a decision, and things worked out. However, I also knew that I was going to have to see that same inmate the next day.

Are you tired? Would you like to get under the covers and settle into a long, deep sleep? How nice that would be. In your bed, dreaming away. Warm. Cozy. Being physically renewed and re-energized. It is so important that our bodies find rest.
