Howl if you need me

I’d like you to consider this picture and description of a pack of wolves
below.

The three in front are old & sick, they walk in front to set the pace of the
running group lest they get left behind.

The next five are the strongest & best, they are tasked to protect the front
side if there is an attack.

The pack in the middle are always protected from any attack.

The five behind them are also among the strongest & best; they are tasked to
protect the back side if there is an attack.

The last one is the LEADER. He ensures that no one is left behind. He keeps
the pack unified and on the same path. He is always ready to run in any
direction to protect & serves as the ‘bodyguard’ to the entire group.

Just in case anyone wanted to know what it really means to be a leader. It’s
not about being out front. It means taking care of the team.

Now I don’t mean to equate the church of Jesus Christ with a pack of wolves
but dare I say that wolves do reinforce some important principles from God’s

word?

Is it not good and right in God’s sight that we:

*       Care for the elderly and sick.
*       Protect one another and help each other if troubles come.
*       Ensure that no one in the church is “left behind” but instead feels
connected and loved and shown that they have an important purpose.
*       That leaders in the church are called to encourage and challenge the
church to stay on the path of obedience to Christ.
*       That in Christ’s church leading means considering others more
important than ourselves. Leading does not mean being out front, but
serving, and this often from the rear.

Throughout His word God calls us to care for one another with a special love
that will not be found outside of the church. That love has its base in how
God has loved us. It is also special because when we walk with The Holy
Spirit, He helps us to love in ways the world cannot.

Beloved, the world will know that we are Christ’s by how we love one another
and them. I am confident we can do better than these wolves and they seem to
have it down pretty well. Let’s look for ways to care for, protect,
encourage and guide one another. Let’s lead each other in the way of
obedience.

May we all be willing to humbly serve one another for the well-being of the
whole church and the glory of God.

“16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a
messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these
things, you will be blessed if you do them.” – Jesus, our Lord

For Him,

Rob
