Somewhere Safe

There is a fascinating story that came out of World War II. A wealthy couple in London saw that Germany’s attack on Britain was imminent, and so decided to go somewhere safe.

They hired a real estate broker who bought for them a large estate in the beautiful Solomon Islands in the south Pacific, just east of New Guinea. Far away from the trouble, they escaped with their valuables.

Their newfound safety turned out to be temporary. The name of this island was “Guadalcanal,” and only a few months later became the scene of one of the bloodiest battles of the war.

It was WORLD War II. And if it is a world war–you can’t outrun it. It will affect you. It will find you, as these folks discovered.

Today many are looking to escape to a safe location, a peaceful island where the turmoil and madness will not find them. But the world and its influence are everywhere. Besides, whatever your destination, the baggage of your self comes along for the ride.

But there is a spiritual safe space. You can find tranquility right where you are. Jesus has purchased eternal safety and security by His blood, and in Him you can find forgiveness, peace, and rest, regardless of your circumstances, and without hiring movers.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.
I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
John 14:27
