Thinking through thanks-giving

salm 9:1 1I
will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your

wonderful deeds.

With Thanksgiving now in our rearview mirror I have had a little more time
to reflect on giving thanks to God. Perhaps the few thoughts I have shared
below will help you to see that we have so many reasons to express gratitude
to our Creator:

*       For doing well at work (because He gave you the wonderful skill set
that allows your work to be excellent).
*       For the home you live in (it is only because of Him that you have
found shelter and a way to pay for it).
*       For the relationships you have (although not perfect, they are
always conduits of some form of God’s grace)
*       For the safe travel you enjoy (for it is God who has protected you
during those endless amount of trips back and forth to work or wherever it
is you regularly go).
*       For the health that you do enjoy (perhaps this too is not perfect,
but I bet you can find many reasons to praise Him for what health you do
have. Need help? Just think of all that could be wrong with you.)
*       For the money you have (No matter what you think of the amount of
money you possess, every dollar is a blessing from God and a reason to give
Him thanks)
*       For the years you have lived (No one is promised to live a long
life. God has graciously given you every year you have had).
*       For His revelation to you (think about it…..there is really no
reason for Him to have shown Himself to you, let alone to bless you with
whatever knowledge you have attained about Him).
*       For your appearance (We are all fearfully and wonderfully made.
Don’t exclude yourself from this truth by not recognizing his marvelous
handiwork in you).
*       For your creativity (We all have some…and it is all a reflection of
our Heavenly Father’s boundless creativity).
*       For all the food you have been blessed with (Many of us may have ate
more on Thanksgiving than some families have eaten in weeks. I write this
not to make you feel guilty..but to prompt you to praise Him for His
provision in your life).
*       For How God loves you (and did so before you first ever loved Him.
Take five minutes and just try to list all the wonderful ways He has helped
you, changed you, encouraged you, yes – even convicted you (painful but

helpful….). He is always mindful of you and loves you deeply.

Maybe you would like to add more to the list above. Feel free to tell of

his wonderful deeds!

For Him,

Rob
