Which way should we go?

This past week I gathered with some believers to discuss some things that
were important to us all. On my way to meet with them I was thinking about
how to best address the issues at hand and resolved to share with them the
direction I thought was best. It wasn’t long into our gathering that others
started to share their thoughts and before long I found that what they
shared was the better way to go. We resolved to pray about what we discussed
and we departed. This morning I was thinking about what had occurred and a
verse came to mind:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct[your paths.” – Proverbs 3: 5-6

I am convinced that despite all of our ideas about the way we should go, God
directed our paths so that we would know His will. I find great comfort in
this because I know that ultimately God is in control and His will is going
to be accomplished and it is His good pleasure to work in believers to
reveal what that is. If I had to go through my life just relying on my “best
wisdom” I would be very concerned. That is not God’s plan for me or for
anyone who seeks to follow Him.

Perhaps you are facing a choice today and you just don’t know what to do and
this is causing you some anxiety. May I suggest that you pray and trust in
Him to guide you. Remember what James said through the leading of The Holy
Spirit:

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all
without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5

Lack wisdom? Go ahead, ask God. He will generously give you some.

For Him,

Rob
