The religions and cults of the world are very good at telling us what we should do for God. But it is only the gospel of Jesus Christ which displays what God has done for us.
Religion speaks of your good outweighing your bad, offering sacrifices, helping the poor, and a host of other things, all with the intention of getting a particular god, goddess, or karma on your side. It’s up to you to buy/pay your way into Heaven.
So when Jesus claimed to forgive sin, it was an outrage to many hearers, for they realized that He was claiming to be God (Mark 2:1-12). Only God can forgive sins.
But how? Where is the knowledge, and what is the mechanism by which any god can forgive sins and be just at the same time?
It is Jesus alone who forgives sins because it is Jesus alone who has died for them (John 10). That is why He makes bold to say that He, and He alone is the Way to the Father (John 14).
