Yet One More Sabbath

As you know, the Israelites were to celebrate every fiftieth year by not planting or harvesting their crops. The idea was to have a year of Jubilee in which debts were forgiven, land was returned to its rightful

owner, and people enjoyed trusting in God for their provision. This was in addition to setting aside one year in seven for the land to rest. You can read all about that, and Israel’s refusal to practice it, in Leviticus 25 and 2 Chronicles 36.

In tribute to that idea, today is a Blue Box Sabbath, and we invite you to rest in the Lord’s provision and celebrate His presence.

“Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.”
Genesis 2:1-3
