You Were Raised From the Dead? So What?

Jesus healed a lot of people.

Blindness: Cured

Lame: Cured

Demon Possessed: Cured

Bleeding disorder: Cured

Dead: Made alive … temporarily

The last one should have gotten your attention.

Rob, what do you mean temporarily?

You may recall that those Jesus raised from the dead, died again.

We are all going to die. There is no escaping it. It could be sudden and unexpected. It could come after bad news and prolonged suffering. Perhaps there will be a time when we know that our death is just around the corner. I wouldn’t be surprised if we, and those who love us, offer a prayer with the hope that God would spare us from death. Maybe he will … temporarily … but it will just delay it. God said that it is for man to die once, and then the judgment.

Oh, great Rob. What a happy blog. Death and judgment Whoopee! Why, Rob, are you writing about this?

Well, don’t you think that all those healed or raised from the dead were ecstatic? You know – new lease on life. Parties thrown. Feasts held. Tears shed. New opportunities by the plenty. Yet, more suffering to come.

I won’t get too cynical. I won’t write, “So what is the point, because even if we are healed and get twenty more years, and then we suffer and die”. Oh, wait …I just wrote it.

Rob! What are you getting at??!

I am getting at what we all are trying to get at. Eternal life. No disease. No suffering. No more death. No more “temporary”. Just … life … with God … forever. That sounds good. Really good.

Do you know what else sounds really good? That as believers in Christ, we have been granted all of that. It is settled. Christ overcame the grave and now, so will we. The thing that was killing us, stinging us, was going to keep us apart from God forever. Yep. Jesus took care of that.

Listen, don’t get me wrong. If God has healed you, I rejoice with you. If he has raised you from the dead … well … let’s talk. But, if you have eternal life, let’s celebrate. Let’s rejoice in Jesus, and how his crucifixion made the way for our sins to be forgiven. Do you believe? I hope so. Why? Because, remember that part about judgment from above? You don’t want to face that without Christ. That type of judgement will make your suffering from cancer for thirty years seem insignificant. That type of judgement lasts forever. No God. Lots of suffering and torment. Forever.

If you are reading this and you have not believed upon the Lord Jesus Christ, God’s Word says that now is the day of salvation. If you are not interested, I can only leave you with what Jesus said,

40 Just as the weeds are gathered and burned with fire, so will it be at the end of the age. 41 The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all law-breakers, 42 and throw them into the fiery furnace. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.” Matthew 13: 40-43

For Jesus,

Rob
