I hope you have set aside some time this week to watch the Olympics. It is amazing to see the athletes perform at such high levels. Sometimes I enjoy the little stories that they feature about the athletes almost as much as the competitions.

Third grade….wow I’m old. I’m a third grader!

Before I saw him, I heard from that he was angry and anxious and causing problems…..

A few weeks ago I approached one of my coworkers who usually has a pretty glum attitude and greeted him with my usual “Good morning”.

With all of us swimming in a sea of campaign slogans, promises, and stated intentions to change things for the better, I figured this is the right time for me to tell you how I would like things to go. Ready?

How was your Fourth of July? Mine? Oh, thanks for asking. I didn’t see any fireworks (as I suspect is true for many), but I had one of the best Fourth of July’s that I have ever had.

There is a lot of talk in churches these days about numbers. Questions like, “How big is your church?” abound.

I was doing my run this morning and listening to a song by Christian recording artist Phil Wickham called “This is the day”. Here is the chorus:

For those of you who don’t know, I work in a prison. This means there is not a day that I head off to work without considering that I might be attacked by an inmate.
