The Last Days! What happens next?   Life Lessons from Four Apostles   So, In Summary. . . Reviewing What We’ve Learned About the Last Days 2 Peter               Peter’s second letter is a handy catalogue of Last Days thought and categories. As an apostle, he was a contemporary of John, shared ideas with Jude, and even referenced the writings of Paul. As we have seen, what we know of The Last Days is merely an explanation or exposition of what Jesus said about His return, including what leads up to it and how it all ends.

Stand Firm, Stay Faithful! Confronting Counterfeits in the Last Days Jude

The Last Days! What happens next? Life Lessons from Four Apostles   Stand Firm, Stay Faithful!   Confronting Counterfeits in the Last Days Jude               Jude says that although he purposed to write one kind of letter, he wrote quite another. He had planned to describe salvation and its blessings, but found himself so disturbed by what he saw around him that he had to write a letter of warning. Drawing on patterns from our “Old Testament,” he reminds us that the false teachers are nothing new, and that at the coming of Jesus, they will be destroyed. The warning to us is to make sure that we don’t fall for their craftiness and turn out to be counterfeit ourselves.

The Last Days!  What happens next?                                     Life Lessons from Four Apostles  Do you walk with Jesus? Joy and Danger in the Last Days 2 John               Second and Third John are the two shortest books in the New Testament, but both carry powerful messages. Most likely, John’s readers had both his gospel and the follow-up letter we call “First John.” This little post card emphasizes the original message of Jesus: believe in Me, and love one another. John reminds us that our faith is both content and conduct, belief and behavior, centered in Messiah Himself. We can deny the faith either by rejecting the creed or by rebelling against the commandment. Those who would lead us away from obedience and the truth are the opposite of Jesus, i.e., “antichrists.”

A Well-Ordered Life Or, Providential Purposeful Productivity 2 Thessalonians 3:6-18

The Last Days!   What happens next? Life Lessons from Four Apostles    A Well-Ordered Life Or, Providential Purposeful Productivity 2 Thessalonians 3:6-18               Paul turns to a subject only hinted at in his first letter (1 Thess. 5:14). There he says to warn the “idle,” but a better translation is “unruly,” or “undisciplined.” It wasn’t just that some had stopped working, but had done so because they assumed that “The Day of the Lord” had come (2 Thess. 2:1, 2). Time otherwise spent earning a living and helping others was wasted on idle chatter and heresy. That brings another guidance on how to deal with such troublemakers and how to live a well-ordered, God-honoring, Last Days life.

The Last Days!  What happens next?   Life Lessons from Four Apostles             Standing Firm in The Last Days Awaiting Christ’s Return: Four Essentials 2 Thessalonians 2:13–3:5               In contrast to those who have refused God’s grace and chosen instead to embrace lies and eventually antichrist, the Thessalonians are God’s people by election and by faith. Now they actually participate in God’s mission rather than opposing it. Notice the interplay between God’s sovereignty and our responsibility/actions. Paul narrates four key realities for joy-filled waiting.

Preparing for The Last of The Last Days Anticipating Apostasy and Antichrist 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12               A first-century “left behind” rumor had frightened the church, saying  that Christ already had come. They had missed out! Paul reminds them of Jesus’ teaching, which Paul had repeated, that before Christ returns, two things would happen: first, a great falling away from the faith, and second the rise of an evil ruler who claims to speak as God. Jesus said: “l will return, Don’t try to guess when; it will be a while. Now, get busy, for there is work to do!”

The Last Days!  What happens next?                                     Life Lessons from Four Apostles             Jesus will return: Relief is on the way! Prayer and Thanks to God who is Merciful and Just. 2 Thessalonians 1:1-12               A few months after his first letter, Paul pens another to the Thessalonians, who remain faithful in persecution. He reminds them of the principles and particulars of Jesus’ return: On the very day Jesus returns, He will bring relief to His people and retribution to His enemies, i.,e, all who have rejected Him and His offer of grace in the gospel. So a believer’s obedience is contrasted to the unbeliever’s disobedience, and each is rewarded in kind for the choice.

The Last Days! What happens next?   Life Lessons from Four Apostles             In the Mean Time. . . Or, Six Principles to Practice While Waiting for Jesus 1 Thessalonians 5:12-28               Paul has encouraged his readers to stay strong in the face of persecution and comforted them in their trials and losses. Most of all, he has assured them of Christ’s return. Which will happen. For sure. But maybe not right away. So, what now? How do we please God while waiting for His Son?

When Christ Returns Will all believers share in God’s Kingdom blessings? 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
    By: (All)
As the Apostle Paul encourages us to look past our present trials and forward to the return of Jesus, a question comes to mind: What happens if I die before He returns? Will I miss out? And what about those who already have died before us? Will they not share in the glories of Christ’s Kingdom?
